Action Comics #658 DC Comics 1990 VF

This issue is part of the original Action Comics series, which began in 1938, with this specific issue #658 published in 1990. In this story, Lex Luthor tries to obtain an alien technology weapon from D.M.T. in exchange for the black belt previously stolen by the young hero Davood Nassur, known as Sinbad. Luthor plans to recover the belt and manipulates the situation by having his men stage terrorist attacks in Sinbad’s name in order to create unrest and draw Davood out.

Davood confronts the fake terrorists while Luthor’s men attack his community. Superman intervenes at just the right moment and saves Davood and his sister Soraya from death. Luthor then uses the alien weapon in an attempt to destroy Superman, but Superman pushes it into space, where it explodes above Metropolis. Davood uses his abilities to protect the city from the devastating wave, but his belt is destroyed. Superman saves him from falling to his death.

In the end, Luthor publicly blames D.M.T. for the terrorist attacks, removes all evidence of his own involvement, and pretends to be grateful to Davood for saving his life.
