FAQ

What is a “slab”?

A slab is a special protective plastic case containing a collectible item (such as a comic book, trading card, or coin) together with a certificate of authenticity and an assessment of its condition. The case is sealed by an independent grading company (such as CGC, PSA, BGS, etc.) and cannot be opened without visible damage.

What are the benefits of a slab?

  1. Protection of the item – protects the collectible from dust, moisture, scratches, and other external factors.
  2. Independent grading – contains a certificate confirming the authenticity and professional assessment of the item's condition.
  3. Greater confidence – the buyer knows exactly what item they are purchasing, including its grade.
  4. Higher collectible value – certified items are often more valuable on the market and easier to trade.

Can I open a slab?

We strongly advise against opening or damaging a slab.

A slab is a sealed protective case containing a certificate issued by an independent grading company. Obtaining such a grade is a professional process involving financial costs and time required to assess the collectible item.

The intact slab makes it possible to clearly verify the authenticity, grade, and provenance of the item. This is one of the main reasons why graded products generally have a higher collectible and market value.

Opening, cracking, or otherwise damaging the slab invalidates the certification and, in most cases, significantly reduces the value of the product. In some cases, the item may lose a substantial portion of its collectible value.

Can damage to the slab affect a claim or return of the product?

Yes.

If the Buyer opens, tampers with, or otherwise damages the protective case (slab) after receiving the product, this constitutes an alteration of the product that may significantly reduce its collectible value.

When exercising the right to withdraw from the contract, the Seller is entitled to proportionally reduce the refund according to the extent of the reduction in the value of the goods. Depending on the specific product and extent of the damage, the reduction of the refund may be up to 100% if the product loses its entire collectible value.

Detailed conditions regarding claims and withdrawal from the contract are set out in the Terms and Conditions and Complaints and Claims Procedure.

For example, 'dining chair' or 'oak'.
