Avengers Annual #17 Marvel Comics 1988 FN

Avengers Annual #17 is the final annual issue from the original Avengers series and closes out the major Marvel-wide event Evolutionary War. The story was written by Walt Simonson and Mark Gruenwald, with pencils by Mark Bright, inks by Mike Gustovich and Valerie Gustovich, and a cover by Sal Buscema.

The plot follows the High Evolutionary, who plans to radically evolve humanity with a genetic bomb. Since the active Avengers are unavailable, Jocasta’s distress call is answered by reserve members: The Captain (Steve Rogers), Falcon, Beast, Hulk, Hercules, and the second Yellowjacket, Rita DeMara. Across the world, they fight to save civilization, with the story climaxing in a battle against the High Evolutionary on Krakatoa, where Jocasta’s heroic sacrifice plays a key role.

The issue also includes the backup story “Beyond Life,” which adds to the origin and past of the High Evolutionary.

The comic is in FN (Fine) condition, which according to collector standards means good condition with moderate signs of wear.
