This Facsimile Edition precisely reproduces the original November 1988 debut of Wolverine’s first long-running solo series. Written by Chris Claremont, with art and cover by John Buscema, the story sends Logan on a dangerous sword quest: first battling pirates on the Indonesian island of Telambang to rescue captives and confront brutal criminals terrorizing locals, then continuing to Madripoor, where he clashes with the Cult of the Black Blade over the legendary Muramasa sword. The issue showcases Wolverine’s diverse identities, including his stripped-down black suit with no mask and his signature “Patch” disguise.
This 32-page, full-color facsimile includes all original story pages and period advertisements, faithfully recreating the 1988 reading experience. The facsimile was released in 2024 with an original cover price of $4.99.
